South East Technological University, Waterford, Ireland
Registration is now open for the What works for academic writing? event for doctoral candidates on Friday 27th February . This in-person event will be held in South East Technological University (Waterford) and run from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
The IAFA Council have decided to waive the fee – so it will be a free event for participants. However, places are limited, so please register early. Registration closes on Friday 6th February. Participants are required to provide a short sample of writing (abstract) by Friday 13th February to IAFA Chair, Stuart Henderson (s.henderson1@ulster.ac.uk). This will be reviewed by experienced academics to provide you with feedback. See the short note below detailing what is required for the abstract.
As previously noted, our keynote speaker will be the highly distinguished Prof Lisa Jack. Lisa is the Joint Editor of The British Accounting Review and is on the editorial review board of several journals. She is also a former president of the British Accounting and Finance Association and received the Distinguished Academic Award from the British Accounting and Finance Association in 2024.
We encourage all our doctoral student community to come along and enjoy what will be a great event!
Abstract – What is required?
Length: 500–800 words.
Coverage: The abstract should usually indicate: the purpose of the study, the motivations for the study (e.g. how the work builds on prior research), the methodology, the key findings and contributions/originality. Submitted abstracts should reflect the stage of completion, and therefore for early-stage doctoral students matters such as findings may not be relevant.
