The aim of the BAFA Accounting Education Special Interest Group (AE SIG) is to enhance the educational base of accounting theory and practice through the dissemination of good practice and the support and encouragement of research in accounting and finance education. This embraces a concern for better teaching and learning involving a range of areas including the introduction of innovative pedagogies, curriculum development, better assessment, improving links with accounting bodies, and greater awareness of best practice and new developments. In promoting these areas the AE SIG is closely associated with Accounting Education, an international journal.
I warmly invite experienced researchers, early stage researchers and academics with an interest in pedagogical issues in accounting and finance to join us for the 2019 conference. The date of the conference has been chosen close to the European Accounting Association Annual Conference 2019 which takes place in Paphos, Cyprus in the last week of May 2019. This will allow colleague from overseas to coordinate their travel plans and present their work at both conferences should they wish.
The 2019 conference will provide a setting to discuss the relevance of accounting and finance education research to professional practice and other accounting education and finance issues. Both emerging and full papers are welcome for discussion in an informal and collegiate environment to facilitate the development of research papers. Opportunities will exist for networking, discussing new ideas, identifying potential collaborative partners and the possibility of mentoring new researchers in the field.
Special issue of the Journal of Accounting Education: a special issue is linked to this conference. Conference presenters of full papers will be invited to submit their presented paper, after the conference, to the special issue of the Journal of Accounting Education. The deadline for submission to the special issue is 1 October 2019.
You can find further information about the event on the BAFA website (http://www.bafa.ac.uk/subgroups/special-interest-groups/accounting-education/events/upcoming-events/accounting-education-sig-annual-conference-2019.html), including registration and paper submission details.
Please feel free to forward to your colleagues and PhD students who may be interested in presenting a paper and/or attending the conference. A small number of discounted places would be available for early career researchers and PhD students thanks to the support of CIMA, ICAEW, CPA Australia, CPA Australia.
I look forward to welcoming you at the conference in May.
