Dear EAA member,
We invite you to the first online EAA education workshop on Fri June 19 (11.30 – 13.00 Brussels time):
“Challenges and Opportunities for On-line Accounting Education”
The COVID-19 crisis has created an uncertain teaching environment where on-line education has gained an unprecedented prominence in a very short period of time. It was not planned. It just happened. The idea of this workshop is to share our experience of teaching accounting on-line for more than 10 years and provide some guidance on how to adapt to this new scenario. The workshop will be divided in four modules as follows:
1. SETTING THE STAGE FOR ON-LINE TEACHING
2. PLANNING FOR AN ACCOUNTING COURSE IN AN UNCERTAIN ENVIRONMENT
3. ACCOUNTING CLASSES ON-LINE (I): EXAMPLES OF SYNCHRONOUS ACTIVITIES
4. ACCOUNTING CLASSES ON-LINE (II): EXAMPLES OF ASYNCHRONOUS ACTIVITIES
Each module will last for about 10 minutes and will be followed by some time for Q&A.
Nieves Carrera is professor of Accounting at IE Business School (IE University). She has been teaching Financial Accounting and Financing Reporting and Analysis online for more than 10 years in graduate (e.g., Global MBA program) as well as executive (Executive MBA online) programs. Some of these programs have been very well ranked internationally (e.g., the IE Business School Global MBA program has been ranked 2nd in the FT Online MBA Ranking 2020.
Marco Trombetta is professor of Accounting at IE University. He has been teaching accounting courses on-line since 2002. First at the undergraduate level at the IUP-Carlos III university, a pioneer initiative for on-line education, and then at the graduate level at IE Business School, recognized as one of the top schools for on-line education by the FT rankings.
The workshop is free of charge and open to both EAA members and non-members, but registration is required:
